Identifying teapot design and clay

by tieguanyinfan » Oct 13th, '11, 22:36

I came across this teapot and wanted to know what design/style it is in. Also what type of clay might it be made of?

I found the image on this site, but unfortunately can't read Chinese :(

The pot looks so nice, simple yet elegant...gah I really want it now

Clay looks like pretty good quality pin zini. Looks similar to this pot on Hou De from the 90's. I'm sure the style has its own name, but I have no idea. I like the three foot design. Once you go past the basics like shui ping, shi piao, dou qiu, xishi, etc., it's all Chinese to me. Looks like a nice pot from the pics at least.

Overall, the clay and the design is good, specially the footings. But the pour might be troublesome.

Thanks for teajunkie for linking to a set of good quality pics of pin zini, it does look like it might be pin zini but at the same time it looks a bit more red than the pot I posted :?

I did a bit of google-translate and this pot is made by artist Wu Julan (吴君兰). Does anyone have any info on her?

I found another picture of this pot:

There's also a bunch of pics of the same pot:

Sorry for bumping the thread. Does anyone know where I can find a similar shaped teapot with three legs? I've browsed around and it's not easy to find a three legged pot

RMB480 is about US$75.

(This is an auction, so the link will break in a few days.)

It's name is "Jin Nang Ru Yi Teapot".

The three "feet" are commen seen in zi sha world, for example, shi piao teapot also has three "feet", so does "Da Bin Ru Yi Teapot".
