Greetings once again TeaFriends! Please drop in and share your cup of tea with us. Also discuss the topic of the day.
Yesterday we discussed a mystery tea-related object. Please continue to discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. You see a teapot that "speaks to you" even though you have no clue what you would use it for. Do you buy it and figure out what to use it for later? Please share.
We are as always looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 10/18/11 Talking Teapots?
I voted maybe because it depends on whether or not the teapot fits my budget. I always keep such teapots in mind for future purchases if I can't buy them right away.

+1. I'd probably like to buy it, but it may not be in the budget.Jspigs wrote:I voted maybe because it depends on whether or not the teapot fits my budget. I always keep such teapots in mind for future purchases if I can't buy them right away.
Started the day with some Sencha of the Summer Sun from Obubu that I picked up cheap at my local tea shop. It is hard to go from YM (I ran out recently) to this, but it is decent in its own respect. SotSS does its job, a patch between YM and OTTI 11.
On a related note, I've basically been a ghost around here lately. I've been very busy with school. I'll pop in here and there until I get a substantial work load lightening

If it is a great pot, I can't turn it down.
After all, the pot chooses the tea, not the other way around.

A friend of mine is selling this gorgeous taiwanese teapot. He agreed to lend it to me for a few weeks. I received it yesterday.
In theory, it is exactly what I am looking for : small teapot (65ml), yet big opening for big leaves, and very attractive ! It works pretty well with all kinds of puerh but I have already some pots for these teas.
I'd really like it to work great with yancha or dan cong. First try was good, but it is still too soon to tell...
Even if it doesn't work well with the teas for which I am looking for a teapot, I may very well buy it for its looks only...

Not likely for me, even though I might really want it. I've been eye-ing this ben shan lu pot by Shen Qun for almost a year
http://www.deeho.com/details.php?page=c ... ode=sq2062 I might eventually pick it up if I have a weak moment, but I already have more teaware than I need. Still, that is one beautiful pot!
Started the day with 2010 Kagoshima YM LE from O-Cha. I am currently drinking shui jin gui from Seven Cups.

I bought a pot a while back because it just looked so dang cool and it turned out to be freaking useless. It seems to rob all teas of sweetness and bring out the bitter. Bleh. I'm gonna be more careful about what I buy from now on.

I've been resisting the tiny green tasting-sized kyusu from Den's for many months now, but next order, if they're still there, I'm very likely to cave. And the large size of many lovely pots I've seen online has saved me a lot of $$ on impulse purchases.
So not likely, but not impossible.
Starting with Xui Dian Mei Lan oolong-ish green tea from Norbu. Mmmm.

I've been eyeing that one too. I'm not going to buy it though. At least.... not now...debunix wrote:I've been resisting the tiny green tasting-sized kyusu from Den's for many months now, but next order, if they're still there, I'm very likely to cave.

I will definitely look and look and look at a pot that has really caught my eye. Unfortunately or fortunately I will analize the decision to death ... and more times than not will figure its use before buying. But I definitely also buy a pot simply because I want it ...

Great TD began with "Silver" organic from the O-C with the Mrs. Next up, Takumi from Zencha.

I put not likely, money and little space makes have to me strongly refrain from impulse buys! I have been drinking oolong tea today and made a spiced almond milk tea for dessert

Well broke yet another gaiwan lid today
only my second time, but I keep reminding myself I need to be more careful. Anyways had some fantastic 2010 MEDIUM ROAST ALISHAN OOLONG from Norbu Tea. Was really nice, and It isn't everyday you can find a medium roast version of an Alishan...or at least not for me.
