Re: Sunday TeaDay 11/20/11 Inventory Time
Tea. 55 greens and oolong that are not in long-term storage. I'm down to 180 grams of 2010 sencha (I bought heavily last spring) but I'll have that worked off by the end of the year, then I can work on the shincha in the TeaFridge. I am heavy with oolong right now but most are well roasted so they will last.
Just brewed the last of my 2010 shui jin gui from Seven Cups.

Tea is still in the lead but, not for long.
I've got 3 more teas or so. Left.
Then I got pots.

Re: Sunday TeaDay 11/20/11 Inventory Time
I am quite sure that tea is in the lead....but not ready to count the packages.
Today, Monday, just happy to be home and able to brew properly again, after a week-long road trip with cold-brewed and occasionally hot-brewed oolong, all bulk-brewed from the thermos cup. This morning started with Warashina sencha, delicious, green, sweet, and especially not oolong!

Re: Sunday TeaDay 11/20/11 Inventory Time
I'm late to the show.
I have one infuser and like 20 different flavors of tea. I also have a teapot that I heat the water in, so I guess you could count that in.
I have 1 mug with my name on it that I use every time I drink tea. I won't use anything else.
I'm a minimalist. haha

Assuming my seventy-odd itty-bitty sampler-size tins in storage (that I know I'll find a great use for one day outside of storing tiny amounts of tea) don't count, I certainly have far more varieties of tea than anything. I've been trying to pare down my collection but I think I still have well over 50 different types.
Re: Sunday TeaDay 11/20/11 Inventory Time
Tins and canisters here. I only have about 60 teas currently.

Re: Sunday TeaDay 11/20/11 Inventory Time
I don't build up too large of a collection of tea, because I usually drink alone and will not finish it as quickly as I'm sure others do. I buy as I drink, basically. That means the reigning champions in my home are cups. Even if I only counted by style of cups, I'd still have more cups than anything else, but I also have doubles or multiples of similar cups in case I have someone to drink with, so I've got a lot.
I just moved and put just about all my tea things on one bookshelf, and it's easy to see that there are more cups than anything else. All the teas fit on that top shelf.

Re: Sunday TeaDay 11/20/11 Inventory Time
Of my own personal collection, I have to say teas. I have a lot of Dark teas I am aging, so I think that takes the lead, but not by too much. Cups come a close second, maybe.

Re: Sunday TeaDay 11/20/11 Inventory Time
Definately teas. I have one drawer in my fridge that is full of unopened tea and another that is half ful, not including the open teas I am currently drinking. I went a little overboard last year when special teas went out of business, and i am still working on drinking down the stash, of course i have had to order some sencha since then, but i am well set on black and oolong for a while. I'm currently working on using as much of my open stuff as possible, alot of my tins have only 2-4 servings left. I just hate to finish off a tea, especially if it is one that i like and know i probably wont be able to find again/afford. I know i need to drink it before it "goes bad" but i dont want to run out.
Starting the day with a mystery shu i found in an unlabled tin.

I have about 20 different teas
7 tins
5 teapots
I don't own a true chawan
But I live with a potter, we have well over 100 cups and mugs. (and most aren't made by her.)

I think tea tins....most of my teas are in tins...plus I have lots of empty tins....so they win!

First, I thought tins, because I have a lot of tea, but I also have a lot of empty tins.
Then I said cups! because I might have more cups than teas.
I definitely have more cups than teapots, and although I have quite a few chawan, I have nearly all the S.O. teacups and quite a few more besides.
Then I remembered the puerh.

Re: Sunday TeaDay 11/20/11 Inventory Time
Definitely tea for me. I have a couple unopened packs of tea that are not currently in tins, so that rules out tins as the winner. As of right now my pot/cup/chawan collection is still at the amatuer level. I'm hoping for a new pot as the holiday season approaches though
