HAGI "The Eiichi Commission!" Shibuya Eiichi, PRELIM TOPIC
This is ... the next progression in our Eiichi Commission, the Preliminary topic which indicates the Hagi SSO 18 "The Eiichi Commission" release is imminent. So, do not venture very far as I will be posting more information as well as the "official 3 day notice of release." At long last, we are very close!

OK ...
As I wait to hear back from Hide regarding final details of the Eiichi Commission including photos (I have 3 prelim photos), dimensions, final costs, shipping details ... I will entice you a bit. In discussions with Mago and Eiichi, we decided to have Eiichi create 3 shapes/styles. So, there should be equal numbers of all 3 shapes:
"Straight" sided Yunomi
Tapered/curved sided Yunomi
Ippuku-wan (tea bowl smaller than a chawan and usually less than 4" or 10 cm in diameter)
This adds to the uniqueness and collectablity of this Eiichi Commission project and will make picking even more exciting. So, figure around 8 or less of each form. Generally, even so called "one offs" are typically a part of a much larger run. This is indeed a very small run.

Re: HAGI "The Eiichi Commission!" Shibuya Eiichi, PRELIM TOPIC
The glaze ... as I mentioned previously, we asked Eiichi to simply do something new for him, so this would be developmental for him as an artist well. And we get the first of likely many variations in his chosen glaze.
This does not mean that the glaze is something you have never seen before. Keep in mind, that depite his seemingly cutting edge designs in the ROCK and Snowdrifts, Eiichi has only released rather traditional glazes in variations of white, white, and white.
This is NOT white.
So, to me he seems traditional in glazes and often less traditional in forms (though we have seen a lot of traditional forms from him as well).
But he is clearly very talented and his works could be harder and harder to get in the West as his popularity is recognized more and more within his homeland. Fortunately, he will remember us and our faith in him in creating something new ... so I am optimistic that we will have access to him and his works.

OK, all kidding aside (I think).
Those members who have preordered and confirmed an Eiichi Commission with a deposit, look for an email on Wednesday or Thursday of this week. You should plan on replying to that email asap, but I will include a deadline. If you want me to send this email to a different email address, please send the email address to teachat@adagio.com
Though all members who have preordered/confirmed, your selections are not time sensitive as long as I receive your selections by the deadline. Everyone replying by the deadline will have equal chance.
TBH, these selections are remarkably similar, except there are:
10 straight sided Yunomi
10 curved and tapered Yunomi
10 curved Ippuku-wan (mid sized tea bowl)
However, each piece within a given style are pretty similar.
So, please keep a lookout in your email!!!
Thanks,
Chip

Re: HAGI "The Eiichi Commission!" Shibuya Eiichi, PRELIM TOPIC
If you did not preorder and confirm one of these exclusive Eiichi Commission pieces, I have great news. I requested for Eiichi to make some extra pieces, which he has done. There are a total of 30 pieces versus the normal 25 or less.
So, there will be an opportunity to join in on this Commission project!
How?
I will be posting the Official Eiichi Commission topic in 3 days. I will post it at 6 pm on Friday January 20th at 6 pm Eastern USA time.
HOWEVER, I will endeavor to post this topic for member viewing 3 hours prior to this, 3 pm Eastern USA time.
I will include all the information needed on how to join in on this Eiichi Commission project. Then starting at 6 pm, you and any other member will be able to notify me of their interest.
These remaining pieces will be available on a first come, first served basis!
