TeaDay Wednesday 1/18/12 How many teas do you have open?

It is official, Wednesday is TeaDay all day here on TeaChat. So, come and celebrate and share many cups of tea with all your fellow TeaChatters. While you are here, tell us what you are drinking (or drank) throughout the day. Also, don't forget the Daily TeaPoll.

The last few days we have been discussing our TeaPassion. Please continue to post and discuss this topic.

So, how many teas do you have open, how many would you prefer to have open, and why? This is a very good queston. Please answer the poll, but also feel free to comment along with sharing what is in your cup.

Usually it's 3-4 with Japanese teas, sencha, guricha, genmaicha and hojicha. Those teas i have almost always on hand and ready to drink, there are some other occasional teas sometimes. When i get back to puerh again, number of opened teas will sure increase But generally, i try to avoid opening many green teas at once, though it's difficult to resist temptation of trying new pack of tea...

I have 8 teas open right now, but the number of grams of open tea is where I want it to be: 92 grams of green tea (1 Chinese, 3 Japanese), 130 grams of rock tea (3 types), and 36 grams of a Phoenix Mtn tea.

Started today with matcha Manten.

A tea for different moods. I've been digging honeybush lately.

It varies, but probably 5-7 on average. Right now I have 2 high mountain oolongs, 2 shui xian, 1 HF TGY and 1 gyokuro. The gyo needs some attention probably, but it's hard to pull away from the oolongs for me right now.

Currently I have two teas I'm working on - an oolong, and the Koiaji sencha. As my inventory (eventually) gets added to, I'm sure the "in progress" number will go up!

Not counting puerh or what I have at the office 17 teas. I would try and pair it down, I should get finish off the Matcha before it gets stale, I rarely have 2 gyokuro open (which I currently do), Most of the rest are oolongs with 1 korean green tea, and 1 chinese green tea, and 1 hong cha.

I try to limit the number of green oolongs I have open at once, one or two at home and the same at the office, and also to limit the senchas and green teas; sometimes I do better, sometimes worse (especially if I've done a comparative tasting, that really throws things off). I don't worry about the puerhs, or the roasted oolongs. And I usually only have a couple of white teas open at a time. Still, it's usually 8-12 'active' teas at home and at work, plus the puerhs.

checked 12-20, it seems like a lot but I am not worried that they will go stale, besides variety is the spice of life. right now I'm drinking a pot of green large leaf sheng 1995. good tea day to all!

Not worried about anything going stall it will be gone very fast since I don't only drink alone. Do miss the japanese and darjeelings, but there will be plenty of time for them in end of feb/march

Ahh forgot my tea for work.....lucky for me it's a 3 min walk to my house , break time!

5-7....a Kukicha and a Ceylon green and the rest are strong, black teas- Scottish Breakfast, Irish Breakfast, CTCs, etc.

If I count the open Yerba Mate I also have, I need to choose the next option. Or higher.

I have 7 open now and hope that's my limit, as want to use them up while at their freshest. I must admit, I've been influenced by the forum's selections, recommendations and tea vendors guide. I am in the process of switching horses mid-stream, or else the number would likely be less.
Right now I'm trying (but failing) to use up a Mao Feng, a sencha, a green pu-erh and Fuding white treasure (from Upton). I can't seem to keep my hands off the Bi Luo Chun, Premier Shou Mei and Bai Mu Dan from Dragon Tea House. Sheesh! What's wrong with me?

I currently have 8-12 teas open, i am trying to use them up as i have too many open. A few weeks ago i would have probably answered 12-20, but i have manged to finish off sevral teas lately. I end up ordering alot of different tea then opening it to taste it all so i usually have alot of teas open at the same time. I am tring to keep it to under 10 in the future.

Not counting Pu..i probbaly have about 10 open..mostly Yanchas at this time.
