More interested in the type of clay rather than who made it, so I omitted the chop. Not really that interesting since the clay has a many imperfections

Thanks for any help.

Hrm, it looks very similar to this "ben shan" over at Yunnan Sourcing.

But I will be curious to what the experts think...

I think someone gave me this pot from jas-etea, which is where she said she got it from. Is it really ben shan? I thought it was a duan ni mix of some sort.

looks like ben shan to me, but I can't be sure. Stuff that comes from YS and Jas-etea can't be verified as easily. Either way, it looks nice. If you don't want it, I know someone who would gladly buy it.(aka me!)

If it's originally from jas-etea then it probably is the same type as the one I linked. The owner of jas-etea got much of his stock (at least in the early days) from yunnan sourcing.

As for the 'ben shan'... I don't have enough expertise on clay and the various names and types and the various claims...

What sort of imperfections has your duan ni pot? Duan ni is not a common clay, which has a high sand content and is normally mixed with lu ni or zi ni, a normal clay.

If chrl42 happens to chime in here, he will probably give a more detailed description of the process.

Not really an imperfection in the clay, but rather in the pot itself. The lid has 1 failed stamping on the inside, the top of the lid has an imperfection near the ball, that sort of thing.

To me those imperfections make the pot unique. If you don't want that "baby", let it enjoy the company of a herd I got at home. ;)

Hahahahaha, this pot will be staying with me. Even though it's about 200mL, it's staying my faithful shu pot. The nice citrus taste it infuses into my normally mellow and sweet shu makes it more interesting to taste. I really do enjoy it. 8)

It's kind of like my mom actually, she injects a sour note into my life that makes life not likeable, but also at times just what I needed.

Cool, stays with you :) Anyway 200mL is a very good size for puerh as it allows the leaves to fully expand inside. I can't stand brewing puerh using a 100mL pot and adding in the portions you'd use to feed a mouse.

My fave puerh pot is 180mL one and future pot purchases will be either capacity or 200mL.
