Forget-me-not teapot (or something like that)

by HanshinTigers » Jan 25th, '12, 13:20

Most of my tea collection lives at my desk at work and I have a serious problem of getting sidetracked when I am at work and I am trying to brew my tea. I get my leaves and water in my kyusu and then start working on something and then look down 15 minutes later; I forgot to pour my tea. Maybe I need a new brain, but I hope someone else has this problem.

I have seen the tea timers, etc., but I don't want anything that would make noise, as I am in an office building. Maybe something with a flashing light, or some sort of computer program timer that would pop up in-front of whatever I was doing.

Does anyone else have this problem or any interesting solutions for this?

Thanks for your help.

haha you can text me when you are about to brew and I will text you when its done

Or you could just set your phone to vibrate and use its alarm, I imagine you have already considered this though...

My phone won't do fine-grained enough things with the timer--it's minutes only.

The "Tea" app (I believe made by a member of TeaChat) for the iPhone has a timer function, although it has to be accessed by going into settings for a particular tea, but it doesn't vibrate the phone when done--it shows the seconds counting down, then flashes brighter and darker on the screen (this with sound off) or sets off a small bell sound (with sound on). The bell is only two dings, and doesn't keep going--not too disruptive.

A very basic timer might be useful. They're cheap, and can certainly handle seconds. I believe I can't post links yet, but any hardware/home store should have one. I've even seen them (but with fancy leaves printed on :P) at some tea shops.

Looks interesting:

"Digital timer with vibrating, audio and flashing alerts. "
