Re: 2012 Official Shincha Ordering Topic
Kaburagien just shipped their ``88 nights''. I wonder how long it will take to arrive?
Re: 2012 Official Shincha Ordering Topic
I pre-ordered O-Cha's Yutaka Midori, Sae Midori, and Chiran. Just saw that Yutaka Midori was released today! Now where is the Chiran?

I was talking with Kevin today in the chat. He says he's going to get Chiran samples soon from suppliers, then choose which one is best. So maybe shipping a few days from now? I don't remember the exact timeframeIll-literate wrote:I pre-ordered O-Cha's Yutaka Midori, Sae Midori, and Chiran. Just saw that Yutaka Midori was released today! Now where is the Chiran?
Re: 2012 Official Shincha Ordering Topic
I only pre-ordered the YM from O-cha, perhaps I'll order one or two more before the shincha season is over...
It will be very interesting to see how the O-cha YM will be this year. In my opinion, last year's YM was good, but still a little bit disappointing after the "best tea ever" YM-LE of 2010.

What in the world are you talking about? Kaoru Supreme is matcha. The 2010 YM is, I believe, what people mean by "YM classic".
Kevin has previously stated that this year's supplier for YM is going to be different from both 2011 and 2010. He was talking on the chat a while back while he was deciding on suppliers for YM and Chiran shinchas.

and so, answer the q...what is LE>>>YM-LE? Classic is 2010, so if dif supplier in 2009 or 08 or 03 and so on, not 'classic'? <<<that makes no sense, what are *you* talking about

I presume LE is limited edition, which is how dif from 'classic' lol?
Re: 2012 Official Shincha Ordering Topic
Sorry for the confusion, the current version is not "LE", I accidentally left that description in there from an earlier use. Forget "LE", my mistake.
This year's YM is from the same supplier as last year, but it's a different version. I really wanted to go back to the "classic" supplier but although it was also very good, I didn't think it was as good this year as the one I selected. The classic was sweeter, it was good, but the version I picked was more flavorful and aromatic. Worse case, I carry them both later. I've tried no less than 10 different Yutaka Midori samples here, there is a very large quality range out there now. The people I buy from know I go with the best I can find first, and loyalty to a particular vendor comes second. This probably differentiates me from a regular Japanese buyer, but that's how I roll. At this stage I can't say if this year's will be better or not as good as previous versions - I'll let the customer decide that.
By the way,it is a good year quality-wise for Shizuoka tea. I don't carry any "yet", still waiting for a clear road on that but it's being sold here in Japan almost as if nothing ever happened and the reviews are good.

Re: 2012 Official Shincha Ordering Topic
The one I had in 2010 was sold as Yutaka Midori "Kaoru Supreme LE", but I seem to remember that there was also another (non-Limited Edition) o-cha Yutaka Midori in 2010, that is perhaps what is referred to as YM-classic?Poohblah wrote:What in the world are you talking about?
