This is a shot in the dark here, but I'm trying to find a Tea Gallery gaiwan in either the medium or large size. I missed my chance while they were still available...
Maybe you've got one that you don't use or don't like? Send me a PM!

Re: WANTED: Tea Gallery gaiwan
I have a feeling that 90% of teachatters are in the market for a TTG gaiwan

Re: WANTED: Tea Gallery gaiwan
If you don't mind me asking, what's so special about these gaiwans and why do I want one?
Also, what's the deal with this company? Is their website still inactive/abandoned? Thanks.

Why would one want a great lid fit? I prefer one with the lid slightly oblong. That way you can twist to a point with a great fit or to a point more open for a filtering pour.
But maybe this is what you meant.
Definitely there is a demand and need for quality gaiwans. I searched around and found a very small one (50 ml) from Dragon Tea House (Gordon).http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-White-Gong ... 7431wt_993

I have a gaiwan of that style but with a lotus print on it. I do not think this qualifies as a "quality" gaiwan. It works well enough, and the porcelain is indeed thin, but the topknot is not always easy to hold on to and often gets hot. Aside from that, I don't particularly like the shape; I prefer a more "classic" aesthetic.BioHorn wrote:Definitely there is a demand and need for quality gaiwans. Must be so, Chip.Chip wrote:The written word was likely misunderstood.

My message was not clear. I own this gaiwan. The stem is thick enough to protect the fingers from heat off the lid. The walls are quite thin. Gordon's other 100 ml porcelain gaiwan is of a lower quality (reflected in it's price.)
Of the 6 I use for tasting some have lids with thick stems and some have little protection for the finger.

I agree with Poohblah that a properly built lid can make a big difference!
Also finding quality porcelain gaiwans does seem to be difficult.
Re: WANTED: Tea Gallery gaiwan
Anyone know what happened to TTG? I've been too inactive on TeaChat so I may have missed a post about it, but...
I really am sad that I can't get their gaiwans any more. I keep checking back at their website, just in case, but...

Ah! okay. The local teashop has many gaiwans of this same shape and I have never taken a liking to them; I assumed this one was from the same factory or something. I didn't realize you own itBioHorn wrote:My message was not clear. I own this gaiwan. The stem is thick enough to protect the fingers from heat off the lid. The walls are quite thin. I've heard through the grapevine that they have shut down their online business for the time being and are only operating at a brick & mortar store in NYC, or something along those lines.twinofmunin wrote:Anyone know what happened to TTG?
