Where to get quality yet affordable Gaiwans?
I've looked on some sites and have seen some nice gaiwans. I'd like to add some to my collection but I don't want to break the bank. I want something nice looking and well made though. I was wondering if it is safe to order overseas because of possible lead in enamel? Thanks in advance!

They have a cheap 100ml gaiwan for $8 plus shipping.
there's a bunch on ebay as well, but the wait is pretty long if it's from china or something. If you're buying from ebay, just make sure the seller has good reputation.

I think that Chawangshop has some of the best commonly available: http://www.chawangshop.com/index.php/te ... aiwan.html
The Jingdezhen porcelain is not as thick and clumsy as most other materials from which gaiwans are made.
I do not know about the matter of aesthetics (I do enjoy it, but you might not), but for brewing tea, they are great.

Teaktrekker has well made porcelain gaiwans in 3 sizes. I have the 2 smaller sizes. They may not be the least expensive, but if you're in the US you'll receive them quickly and I think they're worth the money.

Red Blossom Tea company in San Francisco has some gaiwans. I've ordered several things from them and never been disappointed in the quality.

I have their 4oz. Peony Gaiwan. It was very affordable, and it is very serviceable. From green teas to Oolongs, this gaiwan performs well. I haven't tried a black tea or puerh yet.Jo-NYC wrote:Red Blossom Tea company in San Francisco has some gaiwans. I've ordered several things from them and never been disappointed in the quality.

I'm not the original poster, but I've been in the market for a gaiwan.
I appreciate the replies.

How did I not know Yunnan Sourcing had a US site with cheaper/faster shipping?

I just bought a tea cake from them and they are quite reasonable and have fast shipping. I need to check their site again. I have amassed a huge list of online tea/tea regalia stores..
