Sanding yixing?

Hi all!!

Has anyone here ever sanded back a (very small) yixing pot chip?

I just picked up a little high fired shui ping (not sure of the clay, very bright red though) whilst on holiday for $10, marked down due to very small chips on the end of the spout, doesn't effect function but not very nice to look at..

I'd post a photo but its currently packed away in my suitcase!

Happy Holiday! I would suggest keeping the chip. It would be good for memory sake

FWIW, yes, I've sanded down the openings of a couple pots to make the lids fit better. Just use a high grit paper 800-1600, wet the paper. and take your time.

I have to Tokoname Kyusu spouts. It was educational as the black reduction fired clay revealed the reddish clay beneath.

And of course wet sand or wear a dust mask

I actually used a diamond file ... ultrafine.
