Ceramic Mug with infuser for pu erh.
I have started getting into pu erh teas lately. I have purchased a 10oz ceramic mug with ceramic infuser from Rishi to use for anything from chamomile to pu erh.( i have a tokoname kyusu for my gyokuro and kabusecha). I bought the mug because I find it easier to operate that a hot gaiwan. My question is would a gaiwan or even a yixing really unfurl the leaves more and give better steeps than the mug? IME the leaves are unfurling just fine in the mug, the big difference would be the amount of water used. I tend to do 8 oz infusions and average about 5 infusions per sitting.

What do the leaves look like at the end of your session? Spread out the wet leaves on a plate and look at them--are they fully opened? If they are, you're probably getting plenty out of them. There are lots of reasons to purchase a variety of teawares, but unless you think you're missing something, you shouldn't feel obliged to. Wait until the Teaware Aquisition Disorder kicks in of it's own accord....

Indeed! Shouldn't take long...and I hear the only effective, albeit temporary, treatment is an empty bank account.
