Weird yixing tea pot shape?

by dan88 » Jul 29th, '13, 22:17

I have a few questions to the experienced members about a Yixing tea pot.

1. Do you know the name for this particular shape? (i.e. like other shapes would have names - Dragon Egg or Ball shape).
2. Is this an appropriate shape to brew a good cup of tea? As you can see on the small picture you have to hold the pot in a weird, uncomfortable way to squeeze the last drop of tea out of it. Instead of enjoying tea, I have to focus on how to shake out all the water out of the teapot.
3. Will this shape affect the temperature of the tea brewing. I.e. the lower part will cool faster than the middle of the pot. Perhaps this shape may prevent the leaves completely straighten up in a pot.

Please express your opinion on the matter.

Thank you.
