Have you recently cleaned this teapot using baking soda?

Mmm, I have no idea what could be the reason. I suggest you to leave the teapot in a container with hot water and baking soda for a day, then
wash it well and see if the problem reoccurs.

just mineral leftover from the clay, or past usage. water with minerals will do this, nothing to worry about.

Yeah, the inside just looks like mineral buildup from water, but is anyone else seeing something different on the underside of the lid, where it meets the collar? Is that just slip for the join?

"Real" vampires don't sparkle-they burst into flame in scorching pain, or whither and smoke horribly.
I'm not sure, however, how they take their tea.

but the odd thing is that the pot was like this before i pot any wather in it, it look and feel like there are parts the the glase is off and the roughness of the clay comes out
