Re: Clay identification
It's a mixed clay..
Manganese oxide is a powder added to Yixing clay...many because common Zini are not dark enough (old times they prefered dark color)..added one turns dark brown.
My opinion is it's mixed between 2 clays..common Zini and Mangan-Zini..could be wrong as well..
That shape supposed to come from Japanese Kyusu...so I'd select Green..or whatever it brews well

It's not bad or good..just used for coloring since 80's..Is manganese oxide a 'bad' or less desirable thing?
Re: Clay identification
thanks man... that might be nice actually. Wouldn't mind a yixing for green, despite all the forum posts If I have been using it for oolongs and wanted to try greens would I need to 're-season' or 'un-season' it (boiling in water)? Or could I just have a go with a green and swap back to oolong after if it didnt work???chrl42 wrote:select Green
