HI all,
(updated)check this out:

Just curious if any of you have pledged on kickstarter? I saw a post on Steepster about a new Tea Travel Tumbler and it had a "sneak peak" to the kickstarter video. I must say it looked very cool, i'm kinda excited about it because it has a design i have not seen before. When it goes live i'll likely support it but just wanted to see what others have experienced in that sort of thing?

Re: Experienced with Kickstarter? Saw an Awesome Tea tumbler
I've backed a number of projects on Kickstarter, and it's all been a positive experience so far.
The tea tumbler looks like a neat solution to tea on the go. I'm not sure that I need something like that, but still, glad to see somebody thinking about it.

Why is there a kickstarter for a tea tumbler? They are extremely easy to find and popular already... I think it's just a trend in America that recently jumped the ocean from China to US...
Re: Experienced with Kickstarter? Saw an Awesome Tea tumbler
Thats good to hear Drax, i'll probably back this one just to consolidate my work space, instead of having a cup, teapot, tea container and i can just have this tumbler.
PoohBlah- its a little more complicated than just a cup i thought it was rather ingenious. Heres the video i saw from steepster http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-S7u-hU ... e=youtu.be

Honestly, this doesn't look like an improvement at all over the piaoyi. It seems like (from the video) if you want to have it not steep, the giant metal rod will be sticking up? Hardly convenient. Maybe that's why there's only one very quick shot of it.
Of course the piaoyi is not 100% perfect, but this doesn't look that great either.

I agree with MarshalN.
It's a lot of unnecessary mechanics and gimmickery in an attempt to improve something which has already been invented many times over and doesn't need much improvement.

I'd argue the Tmall one is superior because it has no moving parts.
Re: Experienced with Kickstarter? Saw an Awesome Tea tumbler
Huh, I didn't realize (though should have!) how many options there were out there for tea on-the-go. I was familiar with the more simple ones.
But then again, one of the things I enjoy most about tea is drinking it in a relaxing environment (and not so much while I'm rushing about). I did briefly try one of those glass tumblers with a mesh filter on top -- I wanted to have tea at work while I was in meetings. But I quickly noted two problems. First, once I was in a meeting, I had no way to refill it with hot water. And second, drinking that much tea during a meeting just made it really painful toward the end when I really had to go to the bathroom (and so was probably a good thing I couldn't refill it anyway).
Oh, such first-world problems....

I'd argue this is the biggest problem with tea tumblers. I really like mine that I bought in Chengdu, and I toss it in my bag all the time when I go out, but I rarely have the opportunity to refill it once I'm out of the houseDrax wrote:First, once I was in a meeting, I had no way to refill it with hot water.

Re: Experienced with Kickstarter? Saw an Awesome Tea tumbler
Interesting Marshain it looked like the rod comes back down. When he pressed the button and the infuser dropped back down and Drax it did have a storage to hold more tea, that honestly is the best part for me. I dunno i like it but hopefully the kickstarter page will clear some things up.
Re: Experienced with Kickstarter? Saw an Awesome Tea tumbler
Right, so when you want your infuser in the "up" position (which is most of the time) the rod will be sticking up - doesn't seem like a good idea to me.GoodTIme wrote:Interesting Marshain it looked like the rod comes back down. So the project has gone live and i've pledged just hoping to help spread the word.
Marshain it appears the rod does go back down so it does not stick up. Anyways i think its neat, if you want more info check it out

I would rather not disclose here in the open forum, however he did "slip up." There were also member concerns to the legitimacy of this topic. Thank you members for the tip!!!
Either that or it was the Kame Gyokuro enjoyed this evening.
