Does anyone make their pu-erh in this way or with this method?

This is not me in the video. I just was looking up pu-erh making videos on youtube and found this one.
Re: Video: Brewing pu-erh the makeshift way.
While I am always amazed at how many different ways tea can be made to taste good, the trick is to find the one that works for you and your situation, with each having its ups and downs, I have not seen that before.
But I dare say the film style, camera work, and even some of the shots seem eerily similar to an absolutely horrid iced tea video. It is creepy beyond belief so consider yourself warned. http://youtu.be/hSkT77010fE

I didn't watch the video all the way through, but I first was introduced to puerh by my father's simple brewing: he dropped a piece of puerh in a similar pyrex measuring cup, covered it with boiling water from the kettle on the stove, waited a while, and strained the result into a coffee mug--often he used a quart pyrex so by the time he drank the last cup it was long-brewed and room temperature. It isn't my preferred technique, but it's not so far from tossing a chunk of pu into a thermos, covering with hot water, and drinking it over the next several hours.

The irony of this video for me is that the "makeshift" way is rather involved. I'd prefer to just sit in the tea space and brew in a more aesthetic/soulful way in the same amount of time. But kudos for the use of everyday implements to get things done.
