Hagi staining

This week I sadly lost one of my Deishi Shino Hagi cups--swept it accidentally off a desk at work. It was a cup that I picked up one day on my way to work, so it never made it home for a formal photo session...



The edges were interesting





especially when close up enough to see the details of the tea staining between the crackes and below the glaze

Oh man, this is the kind of stuff I'm bound to do after awhile because I can be quite the cluttered person. Sorry to hear about your loss, debunix. I guess this is an excuse... to go buy more! Quite interesting to see the staining. Kind of makes me want to run to brush my teeth.

That's how I'm trying to look at it. It was a beautiful cup, lovely to see and to hold and to drink from.

Breakage of ceramics is part of the normal 'Circle of Life'....... it happens. Not nice... but it happens.

If it was really a special piece to you there is always kintsugi.
