All in this Tea - Les Blank Documentary Maker

by heliospace » Sep 8th, '14, 12:05

Hey all,

I just wanted to share something that happened to me by chance. I ran into a friend that was much like a family member last year. Found out that she was dating Les Blank's son, Harrod, who is also a documentary maker and author. My Dad and Les Blank were both battling cancer at around the same time, and both passed away approximately one month apart in 2013.

Anyway, I received these treasures along with some tea and wanted to share them with you. The DVD is the video that Les Blank filmed featuring David Lee Hoffman and how basically the East met the West with tea trade. While Les Blank was traveling around China filming David, he picked up this awesome tea scoop. This is my first and only tea scoop. So, I am very happy with it to have such a treasure belonging to an amazing documentary maker who acquired it during the filming of All in this Tea!

I don't know what type of wood it is, but love the handmade aspect of it. It makes me smile upwards at Les every time I scoop some tea into a pot.

With gratitude!!!

Aaron

Beautiful story! I love that documentary. It really helps if you are in a tea-slump to recharge and get excited for tea.

As for the tea scoop; it looks a bit like rosewood. Im not a wood expert but I know a few on here will know. Maybe check with blairwhittaker?
