Hey guys, I don't know how many of you go to thrift stores, but I actually work for a thrift store chain. Recently, I dealt with a customer of one of our stores and they actually ended up selling me a beautiful master made yixing set for less than a Benjamin that their son had acquired (I found out after having received it in the mail that it came from one of our stores). For the store, I know how pricing can be easily overlooked since processors don't know much more beyond the scope of what they see daily in their encounters of buying products for their personal selves. So a customer may go in and pick something up for hundreds, and even thousands of dollars less than the actual value. Either way, I just wanted to put that out there. If you live near or happen to be by a thrift store somewhere, it never hurts to stop in and take a look. There are some wonderful deals to be had there. Cheers!

Re: Keep your eyes peeled in thrift stores!
I don't have as much time as I used to for thrift shops, but when I do get to one, I always take a good look around, because you never know when one will hold a treasure, even in the age of eBay. There are still lots of people who'd rather donate than try to sell themselves.

I always keep an eye out and check the teaware/china section whenever I'm in thrift stores. So far, though, I've never found anything other than a whole lot of British-style mass produced teaware and the occasional spectacularly ugly kyusu ....

I picked up a cup/bowl of some sort that I really enjoy. It's nothing fancy, but at .99 cents, I couldn't go wrong. I've been enjoying green TGY out of it immensely. It has a flower at the bottom of the cup. I've personally only come across a lot of English style tea ware otherwise. So, it was nice hearing the story of someone finding this at a thrift store.
