Hi all,
I'm Dirk, 24 years old and from the Netherlands. I study Persian language and culture in Leiden University.
My interest in tea started a few months ago when my girlfriend recommended me sencha tea while doing groceries. I really enjoyed the sencha tea and went on the search for more. I found a great tea store in my home city of Leiden and started to experiment with other tea's. So far my favourites are Nepalese sichu tea and the Japanese sencha.
I wondered how the sencha tea that i enjoyed so much would be brewed in Japan and discovered the beautiful tea ware. I Bought a banko-yaki kyusu and a hagi-yaki houhin on ebay and now i'm waiting for them to arrive so i can brew some gyokuro

Welcome to TeaChat, föhn. Which sencha did you purchase?
Japanese green teas are my teas of choice!

There are a lot of great sencha vendors specializing in Japanese teas on the internet as well as a wealth of information on TeaChat.
We are anxious to see your new purchases.

Thanks for the welcome Chip. My local tea shop lists the sencha I buy as sencha superior. They do have the name of the sencha written in Japanese on the jar, but I can´t read Japanese so I have no clue what it says.
I will post some pictures of my new teapots once they arrive. The banko one is really something different.

I'm not so sure, but it will probably be between 250 and 350 ml. It's about 4 inches tall.

Welcome!
Good to see more dutchies on the forum. Sencha and gyokuro are good stuff, but hard to come by fresh in the Netherlands. Luckily there are many good online shops. Awesome kyusu you got there.
