Re: Why do you drink tea? I really want to know
Taste and it's kind of fun to prepare, especially matcha. I don't believe health benefits are big enough to force yourself to drink every day something you don't like. Teaware is another reason, it's a joy to use.
Another interesting question would be how people started enjoying good quality teas
For example before moving to Japan i was not aware how good tea can be, since then tried many different teas, but still japanese teas are my most favorite and taiwanese high mountain oolongs are close second (thanks to one of forum members i had the chance to try many great oolongs). While living in Estonia i tried only from local shops, turned out they were stale and way overpriced teas, which left quite bad impression.

I like the taste. White, yellow, and green teas taste so good, and I'm finally starting to expand into oolongs and black teas (slowly, though... I've never been a big fan of the more fermented teas, but that's partly because of the low quality of most of the ones I've had).
Also, for some very odd reason it can help stave off a nicotine craving. I'm almost positive that's because of the process of brewing the tea lulls me while I do it, plus I like drinking tea enough that not even a nicotine craving will keep me from it!
I should stress that the craving doesn't go away, and I ultimately have to have that nicotine after all... brewing and drinking tea just helps me push it off a bit.
As for health benefits... drinking unsweetened tea as opposed to, say, soda is certainly better for you, but it won't be curing cancer any time soon...

Re: Why do you drink tea? I really want to know
I started to drink tea simply because my head couldn't tolerate coffee, I can only drink the sweet-fluffy not-coffee Starbucks-like things, but I don't like them. But taking exams at the university I needed some extra caffeine to make myself more efficient in studying, this is how I found Chinese/Japanese teas. First I bought the low-quality ones (gunpowder, jasmine green, "organic" sencha with cherry flavor) because those were available in herbal shops. After that I found two excellent teashops/tearooms where I could buy really high-quality teas. Since then, I'm a regular drinker of all kind of teas, but now I go for the taste, the caffeine-infusion is only at the second place. My job is quite stressful with extra long working hours (IBs are infamous for this), so I need a ten minutes break sometimes to calm down and prepare tea. I even brought teaware to the office in order to brew tea the best way possible
