Where do you source your favourite matcha?

by Daniel_Green_Minded » Jul 27th, '15, 09:47

Hi everyone, i just wanted to know what are your favourite matchas (both premium ones and everyday ones), why you favour them and where do you source them?

I'm trying to decide between investing in hibiki-an super premium OR pinnacle AND premium for everyday, or O-cha Uji Kiku Mukashi (for everyday) AND Uji Manten for when i need a luxury drink.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I'm currently drinking hibiki super premium matcha. Very sweet and creamy, I drink it both usucha & koicha. One of the best I've ever tried :)

Matsu no Midori from Maiko tea for me, I've re-ordered it several times in a row now so it definitely qualifies as a favourite considering I rarely order the same tea twice

I have this on its way to me. Looking forward to it. I wanted the matcha above it but am trying to stick to a budget...

Thanks, E. I will have to try this one.

I have really enjoyed Yunomi's ChaGinza "Roasted" Matcha. Not really roasted, it just has a lower percentage of moisture in processing. It has a very very smooth flavor.

I got my tea from Gion Tsujiri: http://www.giontsujiri.co.jp/gion/
The tea I get is this: http://www.kyoto-wel.com/item/IS81095N01027.html
It is amazing but way more expensive then most teas I am seeing posted. I also can't compare it to anything since I have only had matcha from this company. The container is 20g instead of 40g like most posted.

Edit: Well on the website it says 40g but in person he said 20g. Maybe the ones they sell online are different size than in person..

I think the best Matcha I ever had was from Hibiki-an, and was the highest-end tea they sell. It was, in a word, transcendent. I've never been able to match it since, not even from high-end offerings from other sellers.

I'm not sure they still sell it, as this was a number of years ago, and their current offerings are much lower in price. I believe I paid $75+ or so for that can

(maybe it was even more...?)
