Hi i'm searching a new yixing.
I'm searching great quality guaranteed clay.
Better hojotea, tea hong or other?
Re: Best quality clay (yixing)
Government-owned Factory-1 used to have good quality clay for mass-produced pots..that was decades ago.
In 97, the Factory ended..and 'til 05 when the government prohibited mining Mt.Huanglong, they had been mining left-over clays (especially strip mines like Taixi) privately but most of them went to a clay producer called Huanglongyuan..and they constructed parks and roads, some old veins of the ores were found during that time (like Jiangponi)...that was all, they already finished contructing. You could search those private studios who were quick at scanning the clays eariler.
Nowadays they still mine at night illegally, but the quality came out isn't like old days..
and those none-Huanglongshan clays are quite different quality and texture from the original.

you also want to consider what kind of tea you want to make in it to choose the type of clay.
Re: Best quality clay (yixing)
Ok but it's difficult find old yixing with certificate of quality.

Re: Best quality clay (yixing)
I own four pots from Jing Tea Shop, and I love all of them. I think their prices have gone a little too high for my tastes in the last year or so, but as far as quality clay they are a very safe bet.
Re: Best quality clay (yixing)
I don't think you'll find many guarantees in the world of Yixing (at least, any that are worth the paper they're printed on).

Re: Best quality clay (yixing)
The best, you should find old teapot because it is very difficult now to identify best quality clay.alix wrote:Who suggest me something?
Re: Best quality clay (yixing)
Tea Hong has solid teapots from what I've heard. And Hojo is very reputable, they have some very nice pots. It depends on what tea you want to use with it. Hojo's kyusu are mostly meant for green tea but you can use them for whatever you like. Make sure you read about the different clays to see what tea goes best with the clay. Hojo has a blog, he mentions this and gives advice on this on there.alix wrote:Ok but it's difficult find old yixing with certificate of quality.

I got my first yixing on here through tea swap.
