Li zi yixing

by jpo1933 » Nov 8th, '15, 02:35

Hi guys, not trying to clog the forum or anything, but seeing as there arent any place for pot requests, I hope posting a request/ info here is cool :D
Looking currently for 1960's Li zi yixing that someone would be willing to part with. Theres a really nice one on ebay, but it has a crack unfortunately on the lid, and seeing as I may only have one oppurtunity to get a nice pot... and I'd like the condition to be as near-mint as possible
Any info or pics would be great!

Thanks guys! :D

Well, good luck with your search if you are looking for a Yixing (Li xin) teapot... I am no expert, but perhaps someone with more experience could point out that that there are probably no real Li xin shaped pots made by the famous factory one (which started to operate in 1958) during the late 50s or 60s. Earlier, who knows! In any case, be prepared to pay a good price for something that may be possibly a fake. Better study hard or find someone with good authentication skills...

+1 need to look at earlier pots for a li xin, I have never seen one made in that period. It's more likely to find one from the late Qing dynasty or maybe ROC.

indeed there isnt lixing in F1 till '82.. if you want that curved spout pear you have to look into ROC and earlier.

the closest and the earliest in the F1 catalogues is "Li-Zi" 梨子 or pear shape but the spout is straight. this is the regular long straight spout "xishi". 60s type 6 character seal for this pot is really super duper rare..

Just out of curiosity, why was 1960's your target in particular?

that is dependant on your luck from here.. if you strictly want hong ni of end 60s to 70s type.. then its a matter of whether they show up for sale there and then

if you want purple clay, or nei-zi-wai-hong (red clay outside, purple inside) that is really common and depending on your luck a hundred or two is possible.

i think i tend to prefer 50s to 60s too.. especially early 60s.. one of the greatest clay qualities, and most optimal firings.. before that.. yes it is possible to find good clay but the firing is very very variable (and may require a refire)..
