Ok, so it's not original Factory 1 or modern master work, but it looks like it had been a completely usable pot....
Not really worth the reconditioning work at this point .

Re: That's a shame...
Maybe it is something a good soak in bleach could fix? This is a problem for Marshaln.
Re: That's a shame...
Funny, I was thinking the seller actually put in extra time and effort to sell the pot for less money than if she had just listed it as a Yixing teapot for $20. One of those rare cases that hard work resulted in less pay.Drax wrote:Could be that the wax is worth more than the pot...?

not for waxes unfortunately!BioHorn wrote:Maybe it is something a good soak in bleach could fix? This is a problem for Marshaln.

for waxes you probably will need to burn it off, i.e. throw it back into the kiln and take it to 1k deg celsius again
Re: That's a shame...
probably depends on the initial porosity, but would carbon wicked deep in there permanently discolor/taint it?kyarazen wrote:not for waxes unfortunately!BioHorn wrote:Maybe it is something a good soak in bleach could fix? This is a problem for Marshaln.![]()
