Yixing Tea Pot identification

by BekTP88 » Dec 20th, '15, 17:12

Hi!

I'm new to this group and recently acquired a beauitful teapot that I believe is a Yixing tea pot. I found it at a consignment store and was actually going to gift it for a white elephant party. While wrapping it I noticed the markings on the bottom of the pot and lid and decided to do some more research on it. I haven't been able to find a pot quite like it or one with an identical stamp on it. I've attached some photos, can anyone help me with this pot?

Thank you so much!

Hi and welcome to the forum!
As far as I can tell from the picture, this teapot is probably not made of Yixing clay, but it was made to imitate Yixing teapots. I would avoid using it for tea unless you do some chemical tests. However, it is great that it got you interested in doing some research on Yixing teapots - it could be the starting point of a fun journey :)
