Zojirushi trick

by Groucho » Dec 26th, '15, 12:29

I use a Zojirushi water dispenser for 175 degree water for tea. From a cold start, this takes a long time as it first goes up to boiling and then slowly lowers to 175. I just realized that if you unplug it when it rises to 180 degrees, it forgets the cycle and thinks it's just 5 degrees above the setting and slowly goes down that last 5 degrees to stabilize. This saves a lot of time.

i've never had a zojirushi. anyone know why the control system is programmed like that? maybe they assume some people will be using unclean water in it, or maybe it's just to avoid growth in the machine?

It's part of the control loop process they opt for. Perhaps they want to ensure "stuff" in the water is dead.
