We're talking the strong bitter stuff, now... It's just that, you know...there are people who like their bitterness in tea, and I thought that a thread might be useful for them, in helping them pursue some of the more artful heavily bitter teas. Most teamakers try to avoid making teas with lots of bitterness, especially after 2011 or so.
So in helping to further a discussion, I made a list of still available teas that have as lot of bitterness, as I understand it. I haven't had most of these and there aren't any shu listed. However, be advised that many gongting and first grade shus are pretty bitter for shu when fresh, in the proper way.

Good list Shah. If only YS still had the Lao Man E meets Lao Ban Zhang cake in stock. Maybe the New Amerykah to this list too?

I forgot about the Lao ManE meets LBZ cake. Didn't check for that one. New Amerykah is sold out.

I don't always drink bitter, but when I do...

That one kicked my butt in a very enjoyable way.

Interesting list! I've sampled some of these. Some of the YS and Bana Ming Qian. The only one I didn't want to finish due to bitter overload was the Ming Qian. I think it was the Nan Nuo. Small sample though so maybe my brewing was off. As far as bitter shu puer goes I think of the 2013 YS Hui Run Bulang as having some nice clean bitter.
