Hello,
I've seen a couple nice wooden scopes listed in the artisan thread, but those are too wide for my needs. Can anyone suggest a tea scoop similar to these or the bamboo scoops from Taiwan Sourcing that are 20-25mm in width?
Thanks

Re: Looking for a narrow tea scoop
I bought one similar to this. Mine is 30mm. Not sure how flexible you are with your widths.

Haven't been using it that often though.

I made my own by slicing a piece of bamboo.Alucard wrote:Maybe scoop was the wrong word - more like a narrow cha he.
Re: Looking for a narrow tea scoop
I havent found anything yet and wanted to provide pictures that may help explain. I need something to let the leaves slide/fall into the pot without getting everywhere outside the pot. The chawan is a bit too wide, so use that to measure, then put onto the paper scope thing I made from notebook paper, then use that to put the leaves in the pot. Something similar to the paper thing but more sturdy, a scoop, funnel, etc. would do....width of around 25mm.

Re: Looking for a narrow tea scoop
The bamboo scoop I made myself from splitting a piece down the middle is exactly the size you are after.
This is the only photo I have of it right now https://www.instagram.com/p/7Vt_DHFaTL/

I don't know where to buy one, but it's an easy project.
Actuall, if money is no issue, there is a teawares artisan member who makes wooden tea utensils who could maybe help you out

That scoop looks great. Yeah I saw the ones on the Klasek tea website, but they are actually too wide. I'll check back when they have new stock.

Re: Looking for a narrow tea scoop
I have a few nice scoops bought at my Chinatown wine shop that are appropriately narrow: they looked like part of broken-up tea utensil sets. They're a bit too bright and overwhelming for use a photographic foils for most teas, but they were $5 or $6 apiece.

The scoop is less than an inch in diameter.

Hi Alucard (and company!),
I just got this scoop from Taiwan Sourcing as a free gift, a promo they have been doing for April. They are different from each other but Scott is a very nice guy so if you asked for particular dimensions I'm sure he'd be able to help, if they have any left! As you can see it's around 30mm at its widest but I think it would suit your needs quite well.
Good Luck!
