Wonder what this was used for

by williammimi70 » May 4th, '17, 02:07

Large bowl
Clay outside ( yixing clay?) white crackle glaze inside
Anyone have any idea what it was intended to be used for?

Some old granny in the late Qing used to keep fruit in it. Now geeks like us drool over it on eBay.

Cups like this one, made of Yixing clay with white glaze applied to the inside (in order to appreciate the color of the tea) have been made from the late Qing dynasty up until the 70s/80s.

Looks good (i.e. antique).

What is the size of it?

I never saw one of that size! I usually come across to cups or small dishes.

I think a fruit bowl would be an appropriate description of this bowl :D

This one is possibly for containing sugar?
The lid looks to have come from something else but fits perfectly
