Hi,
I bought some Kaoru Fukamushi Sencha ( deep steamed ) form o-cha.com. All of the teas I bought from o-cha.com in the past have had very precise directions. This bag does not.
Can anyone from experience and expertise tell me
- the temperature ( fahrenheit ) the water needs to be
- the weight ( grams ) of leaves to use for 8 fluid ounces of water
- The time for the 1st, second, and third steeping
Sorry to ask such a basic question, but the directions on the bag lack all of those things only giving vague ranges.

Re: Sencha: Need More Details With Poor Instructions
From 2016 O-Cha Fukamushi Sencha "Kaoru" I steeped it at;
1gr :1oz, 8gr/8oz/140f/90sec.
& then adjusted by increasing leaf a bit/lowering water/increase time
8.1gr/7.7oz/138f/110sec.
O-Cha's steeping parameters used less leaf;
First infusion — 5 g. per 8 oz. water, 60 deg.(140f), 1 min.
Second infusion — 5 g. per 8 oz. water, 60 deg.(140f), 1 min.
Third infusion — 5 g. per 8 oz. water, 60 deg.(140f), 5+ min.
1gr :1oz, 8gr/8oz/140f/90sec.
& then adjusted by increasing leaf a bit/lowering water/increase time
8.1gr/7.7oz/138f/110sec.

Many thanks on the advise. However I feel that even the same source of tea would require experience to produce the best result. The tea leaf may have gone trough different type of wteather from one years to the next. So as its maturity in plucking. Some adjustment still need to be done to have the best result.beforewisdom wrote:Thank you very much Victoria !!!!victoria3 wrote: From 2016 O-Cha Fukamushi Sencha "Kaoru" I steeped it at;

Re: Sencha: Need More Details With Poor Instructions
I haven't had fukamushi in quite a while, but it was always my practice to do the second infusion as basically a "flash infusion" of only around 10 seconds. That's it. After the first infusion all those little leaves are primed to give away all their power rather quickly into a deep dark fukamushi soup that might be overwhelming if you're not careful
Of course, this could vary quite a bit for each specific tea but this was always my starting point.

Re: Sencha: Need More Details With Poor Instructions
With this particular Kaoru I did the 1st and 2nd steeps exactly the same.
Re: Sencha: Need More Details With Poor Instructions
Thanks again for the information. Pictures of my first and second steepings using the recommendation.
My first steeping in a tiny o-cha.com 2 ounce cup.

My second steeping in a 6 ounce cup.
