The best Long Jing money can buy?

Im looking for the best long Jing you can buy.
I mostly drink oolong and pu, but I have a soft spot for the dragon well. I know this stuff can get pricey, and the best stuff will never leave China. Where is the best stuff I can get?

I've not had either, since I prefer to spend my big bucks on oolongs, but these are both top-notch US vendors, probably some of the better LJ available on the english-speaking web:

I have TeaHabitat's Chrystal White it is delicious with elegant green vegetal warm umami notes. Pricy but worth the experience;

Akira Hojo always has exceptional shi feng long jing, but his prices are dear.

I rarely drink green teas, so might not be the best person to answer, but knowing the provenance of their Long Jing I'd imagine Postcard Teas would be worth trying

This has been my go to Long Jing! Great stuff and its never not in my house. Id love to compare it to something thats supposed to be really snazzy

The very best might set you back $10 to $60/gram.

Supposedly that was a bubble, with wholesale prices since returning to ~$1/g for traditional-cultivar (non #43), pre-chinming Shi Feng LJ.

I don't love teavivre's "nonpareils," were a bit light for me. At that price point I preferred TeaSpring's Emperor LJ.

Hojo's Shi Feng is $2.70/g. I'd be surprised if you can find anything "better" through retail channels than whatever he sells. I don't know if he has 2017, but with his food science background, I'm sure it's stored optimally.

Ito En US' boutique site lists some Shi Feng at $60 for 28g. It might be 2016, but would also be stored optimally based on my experience. I've had good luck with their pricey teas.

Seven Cups' Shi Feng was good, too, last I tried, years ago. They have 2017 at ~$1/g.

Reminds that last time I went to Shanghai it was just harvest time for Longjing and the tea market was full of stalls sorting through the leaves. Got me thinking how good this tea can stay if left out in the open like that.

Shanghainese, as Hangzhou is(comparatively) close seem to drink a lot of it, not many other teas to be had. For fun I went to browse some super markets, if they have tea it is usually Longjing. Tea seems to be sold through other channels though most grocery shops did not have any. Needless to say I didn’t buy tea there

Once had a gifted green tea which was named Laoshan (old mountain), some of the qualities quite similar to what I associate with Longjing, this slightly buttery creaminess.

In the end I find these qualities and much more with better stamina in high mountain oolongs, which is why the few longjings someone gives me now and then end up being cold brewed for casual work drinking

Master Luo's Long Jing offerings at Postcard Teas are excellent. Notice however that one is for cultivar 43, which is less desirable, while his other offerings are from old bushes of traditional cultivars which are very desirable. Also notice that while all of his offerings are from the Westlake area (Xi Hu) none of them are from Lion's Peak (Shi Feng).

If you're looking for the best balance between quality and price then quality long jing from Mei Jia Wu in the Westlake area may be your best bet. However, if you are trying to get a glimpse of what Long Jing can be then you may want to continue your search among Shi Feng.

Never tried any black/red teas from Postcard, but their Wuyi and Phoenix oolong are pretty wonderful.

I have been to Postcards a few times (never tried the Long Jing I think )
But they generally have very good teas.

I've tasted my longjings from different vendors, but I'm the most in love with Teasenz' first flush Long Jing. Theirs is from Mei Jia Wu. Especially like the smooth almost creamy texture, with a slightly beany and nutty taste.
