Hey folks!
I got all this pu with a pot I bought from ferg. Knowing virtually nothing about pu, I used this tea to learn the brewing technique. Before this I had always stayed away from the stuff. The few times I had made it, it tasted like dead frogs.
Now I've learned how to brew it properly and have purchase a lot of other pu. I no longer have a need for this.
I would like it to go to someone that was in the same situation I was in. Knows little about pu. Maybe your intimidated by it. Maybe you had bad experiences because of poor brewing. Trust me. This stuff can taste good.
Just pay shipping:)
I can't tell you anything about it that your eyes cant.
Re: Pay it forward pu
I'd like it if you can pass along recommended brewing instructions.

I had some distasteful experiences with Pu when I tried it ~8 years ago.
I'd been thinking of giving at another whirl, but I think I might try Hojo, just because I like his curatorial skills and food science knowledge.
Anyone have any recommendations for Pu from Hojo's lineup?

"curatorial" is a great word, Joel. I'm proud when such a word suddenly comes out of my mouth and of my skill in acquiring tea from Taiwan. As I was bragging and told someone that I had good "acquisitional" skill, I got criticized because the word is not in the dictionary. However, Joel, you encourage me. If you will use curatorial I will proudly use acquisitional. Cheersjoelbct wrote: but I think I might try Hojo, just because I like his curatorial skills and food science knowledge.

Not in which dictionary?ethan wrote:As I was bragging and told someone that I had good "acquisitional" skill, I got criticized because the word is not in the dictionary.
acquisitional (adj): Of, relating to, or characterized by acquisition.
curatorial (adj): Relating to the selection and organization of a museum or other collection.
Yah, good words, tho acquisitional a bit corporate and curatatorial could come off a bit hipster-precious

cha tou shu puerh brick is ripe fruity dates-like and easy on tummy
ma an shan sheng is his flagship puerh which is pretty good
ask if he has any bai shu sheng puerh (maocha) left, I like to grandpa this for long driving commute
I also like the du mu chun 2012 sheng

dizzo--after your "experimentation," what brewing parameters did you end up settling on that you were happy with?
Re: Pay it forward pu
For these particular teas, I used 200 F water in about 170 ml of water for 5-6g. I did 2x 20 second rinses. The third was an immediate pour as soon as the pot was full. This helped get that "funkyness" out. As I began to appreciate the tea, the rinses got shorter and the third consumed steep got longer.
