Hi!
I got a 1.9 L Kunzan tet. Because I often drink tea alone, can I just boil about 300ml in it? Or this is not enough?
Most of the time I boil about 700-800ml but from time to time I would just like a cup, so about 200-300 ml.
Is it ok to boil that low withtout hurting my tetsubin?
Thank you!

Hello,
I have been using a tetsubin for about six months so I am in no way an expert but I will share my experience and thoughts with you. 200-300 ml should be okay as long as all the water doesn't boil out while the pot is still being heated. My understanding is you never want to heat an empty tetsubin; you must always make sure there's water inside. It will probably boil really fast with that little water inside but it shouldn't hurt it. I have a 2L tetsubin that I never let get less than about 1/8 full when I'm using it which is about 250 ml and I haven't had any problems yet. Once again I'm not an expert and others may disagree but just thought I'd share.

Thank for sharing! That what I thought too, as long as there at less 100ml of water and you dont let all the water evaporate, it ok

Hi,
There’s no harm in boiling water at lower volumes. I usually boil my water at 60% full to avoid water from “spitting” out from the snout when it boils. I boil my water at 50% capacity for the lower profile (shorter) kettles.
As we all know, cast iron boils water really high up the boiling point.. when it boils, it really boils!
Cheers!!
