Looking for some opinions on brewing medium grade sencha/gyokuro for up to 4 people. I currently use a standard size kyusu, but it's only good for two people at most. I want something that's functional for a larger group. I also have a glazed tetsubin with a mesh basket, which I've used once before to brew sencha for 3, (I typically only use it to brew black and oolong western style) but I'm wondering if there's something better I can use.
I'm considering this 400 ml kyusu:

but 400 ml almost seems ridiculously big for a kyusu. Should I just continue using the tetsubin or get a large capacity kyusu, or is there a better third option?
Appreciate any advice.

I don't think 400ml is ridiculously big for four people. My kyusus are usually around 200ml and I drink sencha alone. Sencha is usually steeped three times so it equals 1200ml for four people, which is just enough I think. I'd buy the pot if you frequently drink sencha with people. For gyokuro I'd find another much smaller pot.

I realize it’s many weeks later so you may already have made the purchase. It’s a beautiful Kyushu and as Nebs said not too large for 4 people. If you do use it for gyokuro you can steep without the lid and just fill halfway at most.
I use the varying needs of different teas as an excuse to collect more teaware.

Thanks for the replies all. I'll go for the kyusu. It'll be a nice addition.

you're lucky to have 3 tea friends around to enjoy that pot with

most of my teapots are tiny.
