I am curious about what those more in the know think about this particular little teapot. And wondering if you can clarify:
In short, it's advertised as a used small flat shuiping from 1970s. "Fully handmade" in red clay. Supposedly 1st factory from mine number 4.
So what is red clay from that particular mine? Dahongni? (Certainly not zhuni.) Does anybody think the description is already problematic?
Seems a bit crazy to pay 15 dollars for the pot and double for shipping, but hey...

Re: What do you think about this yixing little pot?
Based off of what I've read, you shouldn't buy any cheap yixing pots as there's a high chance it's fake clay and it may be hazardous/toxic to your health if you use it to brew tea.sporad wrote: I am curious about what those more in the know think about this particular little teapot. I think the pot looks nice for decoration though.
Re: What do you think about this yixing little pot?
Ships from China is a dead give away that this isn’t vintage.
Everything about this pot is wrong for 70’s era. F1 pots aren’t fully handmade. Shape and mold isn’t inline with any F1 era. Price is far too low and you aren’t gonna be able buy them in bulk from eBay

Thank you, Zared!
And can I pick your (or somebody else's) brain on what gives it away on this one, given that the shape is typical? The price is not so disimilar to factory 2 ones at essenceoftea (or zishaartgallery). Do you think it could be one of those instead?

Re: What do you think about this yixing little pot?
Just a speculation...220cc is not a common size for shui ping, the color and texture looks more aligned with modern clay. Based on what the seller described about the artist, the price doesn’t match. I believe anyone with a title/ranked in the yixing field, their pot will sell for at least 100-200 usd even if it’s from F1 or F2.sporad wrote: Thank you, Zared!

Re: What do you think about this yixing little pot?
F1 pots are mass produced w/ the use of a mold for shaping the pot. Each era has specific characteristics in regards to clay, body, spout, lid, seal, handle etcsporad wrote: Thank you, Zared!

This pot is 100% not vintage. I own a number of F2 pots and they don’t look look like this. General craftsmanship such as clay, shape, filter holes indicate that this is a brand new pot. Shipping from mainland China and is available in bulk is a red flag that your not getting a authentic vintage or antique item.

Another fake 80’s F1

Lid, handle, button, seal, clay, body are not inline with 80’s. Golf ball filter was never used on F1 shui ping from any era and same goes for zhuni.
Here’s an authentic 80’s F1 in similar size. Difference in details should be obvious when you compare the two. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bpj2Ez9nBNj ... oth0kqjgxs
Republican era and it’s also available in bulk? Both look nothing like the stated period. This is an obvious sign that this vendor is selling brand new teapots.

Thank you so much for your generous guidance. Learning so much from your posts (not only on this thread, but all over the site).Zared wrote: Another fake 80’s F1

May I continue to pick your brain? This is a little (wendan?) pot that a friend found in Shanghai and I am supposed to let her know if I want her to fetch it for me. Unfortunately this is the only pic she took. Hopefully there's enough visual information in there to make an assessment. Btw, the price is 680 yuan. Almost 100 dollars.
Re: What do you think about this yixing little pot?
Another pot I'm considering. Obviously used/vintage. How does it look to the experts?
Re: What do you think about this yixing little pot?
Clay texture seems modern made. I was in China last year, newly made yixing zisha, I noticed the follow price category. Basic mold made is about 500 yuan, with a bit design was about 1000 yuan, 1000-2000 yuan had unique clay, 2000 yuan and above was due to artist title or won competition. I went to quiet a few shops where the price was more transparent because of a family friend’s connection. So if this pot is a used modern pot, I probably would not buy, just a bias opinion as a buyersporad wrote:Thank you so much for your generous guidance. Re: What do you think about this yixing little pot?
Looking at the texture of clay on this pot, I like this one more than the other 2. Ti Liang style pot, I had a hard time maneuvering it. It would make a good display piecesporad wrote: Another pot I'm considering. Obviously used/vintage. How does it look to the experts?
