Here's Day 5, January 16th: Dragonwell

How much are you indulging?

I feel bad for saying, but this is the first tea this week I'm not enjoying. It does have the toasted aroma and rounded finish one expects from it, but not for me.

Tastes like weak brewed coffee.

I'm not normally a lover of green tea, and this one smelt quite salty - like seaweed - when first brewed. It wasn't too bad with 2 spoons of honey though!

Today's tea was so different from the others!

Dragonwell - maybe it's because of the name, but it tastes like the tea I would imagine an earth dragon would drink

It's deep and dark and earthy, a contemplative tea. Good for meditation.

This was the first tea with no hint of the flavor or ingredients other than "green tea." I've been lucky that all the teas presented were very good, tasty, and refreshing, with the exception of this one. It is the first time I've tried three sips and poured out the remainder of the cup.

I skipped yesterday, so I was able to brew Tardis this morning and it's as wonderful as I expected. Sorry, but the Dragontea is earthy enough that it's too earthy for my taste.

Well, I guess you all don't want a long-winded review. I must have taken to long to finish my review because I tried to preview what I wrote and got taken back to the login page.

So, a much shorter version. On the nose, I detected mint and asparagus both on the first steeping and the second but amazingly to me, more vegetal notes on the second steeping. Do I have the same tea as others? Anyway, I was determined to not like this tea because of someone writing they threw it out and me thinking I remembered tasting this once before and hating it. On the palate, I taste the same minty notes and vegetal notes. I like it. There is no bitterness, and the color is faintly yellow/green. I will salt this away in my brain for possible green tea options. P.S. I'm not going the preview route so bear with me if some of this makes no sense.

This is another tea I am familiar with and I do love it. Smooth, vegetal, a little sweet at the end. It’s my go to green. I get this one from my local tea shop who supplies through Adagio. I love it.

Green teas are one of my favorites, so I was looking forward to today's offering. The aroma on this one was amazing as it brewed! The toasty scent was perfect while watching the snow fall. :) Unfortunately, there's no toast in the flavor, which was disappointing. The flavor itself isn't bad. It's rather light, but nice. Grassy and earthy. But I really wanted that toast.

It is so different from the other flavored teas we've had! This is just a single leaf green tea.

How are you taking your tea? I added just the smallest amount of stevia to make it perfect for my tasting.

Whoa- you must be an expert!

It's brand new to me! I would be interested to know if you enjoyed the other teas this week, as I've been noticing a trend that most people who enjoy the more flavored tea are surprised by this one- and if it might be the same in reverse.

A little bit of sugar helps the medicine go down

Totally understandable! Other than Assam Medoly- this was the only other single ingredient tea that had no additional flavors. Just the simple leaf. Very earthy!

I think you got the right one- I can see where you'd get vegetal notes! Perhaps the bitterness some people experienced was by adding water that was too hot that burned the tea? I definitely felt like I sipped a mouthful of something very green and very healthy.
