Buying Tea Dogū for Chanoyu

by chachastudent » May 31st, '20, 17:21

Hi, all!

I am a new student studying tea ceremony in the Urasenke Tradition. I am hoping to buy a Chagama and a Furo, but I am trying to figure out where to do that. With the pandemic, JapanPost has halted all shipments, so it is difficult to find places to buy these items from. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find a nice (but relatively affordable) Chagama? Are there any Japanese companies that would ship currently?

Additionally, I am wondering what I should look for in buying a Kama? I have seen a few with a mostly white (powdery?) interior and others with a little rust. What do you recommend to someone on a budget?

Thank you!
