Questions about my new Teapot
I just got this addition yesterday, from a local estate auction. I only had 1 top view photo to go off of when bidding online, just enough detail for me to tell it was at least a decent looking pumpkin. I ended up with it for $6 .
The inside the bottom of the pot is rough, it looks like a comb-type tool was used along the bottom. Is this at least a not uncommon practice, and could I still use it to brew with a textured bottom like this? Don't mind the white stuff in the photo of the inside, I used a damp paper towel to get out the dust before I realized it had a rough bottom. About 1/3 to 1/2 of the way up the wall is smooth. I don't have too much experience with these, but the ones I have already and the others I've seen have all been smooth on the inside. Also, I was wondering if anyone here would be able to tell who the maker was. I was happily surprised at the level of detail, with the bug-bitten leaves, bug, flower bud and cut stem. Also, on the bottom stamp, does the decorative ring that borders the seal mean anything, or is it purely decorative? Thanks!
