Labels for canisters

by Samovar » Jul 31st, '07, 07:57

I just ordered some tea canisters and now I need to label them.

Any suggestions on the best way to label canisters?

I relabeled all my sampler tins recently and snagged the Brother P-Touch machine from work. Two lines- name of tea and length of brew time. They aren't the prettiest, but they are easily removable if I so desire.

I found some file labels that I can use. After I write the name of the tea, I'll place a small piece of tape over it so that it doesn't smear.

I'm excited about getting these tins. I'm more conscious of air tight tins since I've started to include green teas.

I haven't relabeled any tins yet (or purchased better tins to label initially) but I'd probably do the same: Cut strips of paper and write the name, then tape them on.

Star shaped post ems...works great and no scrubbing them off when you need to use the tin for another tea.

Excellent idea, chip! This info came just in time as I am going to receive the tins today!

I stick a piece of matte finish scotch tape on the bottom of the tin and write the tea name on that. Easy to change and doesn't distract from the visual appeal of the tin.

I use my P-Touch labeler all the time (they do not fade and have that glossy look). I order the ones that are blue background and white lettering ... just for my fancy.

I use Duck brand Duct Tape and a Sharpie marker to label my tea canisters. Believe it or not I find that duct tape is easier to remove than most labels after a few months should I decide to change the contents of a given canister of tea.
