Secret Santa... teachat style?

by scruffmcgruff » Oct 14th, '07, 22:31

Hey all, I just wanted to test the waters with an idea I had the other day.

Would anyone want to do a (purely secular) tea-related "secret santa" event? The logistics could be pretty difficult, but I thought it might be kinda fun.

So, yay or nay?

I think it's an awesome idea. Since this is a closed forum, it shouldn't be too hard to get the logistics of it. Maybe have everyone send their mailing address to one person, and that person could do the "drawing", too.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking.

Its a wonderful idea scruff. And I suppose we would need to come up with a ground rule or two, you know, price range and stuff. But I'm all for it. I think is worth it to work out whatever logistics that need to be worked out.

It might just work.

Price limit? Or perhaps a sample of something currently in your collection? Mass limit? (Say 10g, 50g, or something like that)?

Any way, it reminds me of yet another Bash quote (#58098) >_>
<Kersus> we have to exchange presents at work. we had a $20 limit. So naturally
I bought 20 dollars worth of kool-aid

I think it would only be one rounded teaspoon, so it's just enough tea to drink all day -- a full half gallon.

Oh, y'all are so bad...

I think the Secret Santa is a great idea--what are we thinking on for limits and stuff?

So far, it is the only thing we can all agree on.

8)

Anyone gets me mint white oolong, they will surely die.

Since this was Scruff's proposition, I move we allow him to handle the "drawing" of names, etc.

i love this idea! I love secret santas. I promise my stuff won't be only adagio ;).

I believe there are secret santa websites to set it up so no one knows who they got- http://www.secretsanta.com/ This is the one I've used last year to set up one I had with family and friends.

Would it be only restricted to tea or other fun food stuff? On the website above you can post a wish list, so people have an idea of what to get you.

I like them too! I don't think it needs to be *only* tea, as long as we make sure to set price guidelines.

Speaking of price limits, what do you all think? $10? more? less?

I'm okay with anything $30 or under. 15 seems like a nice number that wouldn't be too taxing on anyone.

how about aiming for $15-$20? That seems to be around the price for a good bag of tea.

15-20 sounds reasonable to me.

I'm cool with the $20 range. Heck, that's enough to buy 2 pounds of Mongolian Milk Tea Brick.
