Vacuum Tea Storage?

by Mary R » Nov 15th, '07, 13:43

Right, so I was vetting my consumeristic urges on Target's website and came across this contraption.

I've got to admit, the idea of a vacuum canister intrigues me. Any thoughts?

Very interesting, I haven't seen this. How much do you think it holds? It does have any height specifications.

My mom had a vacuum pack sealer contraption thingie that she would use to make vacuum sealed plastic bag things (for freezing meats and other stuff- also you can sous-vide cook things like that) and it alsocame with a set of canisters you would vacuum seal the canisters. However, the canisters were clear, but seeing as this opaque, I think it would be a great idea.

Not too expensive either- 15.00 dollas?

Oooh, nice. I have always wished there was something like this. I wonder if it's well built. This is a perfect way to store sencha, I would think. But it's rather large - 1.4 liter? I guess you could stick several bags of tea in there. I wouldn't be surprised if all of us green tea people wound up using something like this. I'll bet you Chip will get one as soon as he sees it. :)

For $15 it can't be that great.

But cheap enough for someone to try it out and let us all know how it fares?

$15 bucks is pretty expensive for a glorified hand-pump attached to a box, if you ask me.

Funny you say this...and curious too. :?

I actually had thought of something like this several years ago...one of my many million dollar ideas such as the internet/www.

I am a thinker, but too often an incompleter...or worse yet, a non starter. I guess that makes me just another dreamer.
