I picked these up today, at Ito En, Manhattan.

I almost left them under my seat at the Daily Show taping...

And of course, thanks all, for inspiring me to pursue matcha in the first place, and to seek out the traditional teaware...

Mucho ditto. The next major teaware purchase for me will be a good matcha bowl. It's time to jump on that bandwagon. :)

That is a very snazzy kyusu; I like the spout. I applaud your choices.

Thank you. I thought the kyusu possessed a rather harmonious proportion, and elegant simplicity. Similar to fine green tea itself...

Sometimes it's just more expedient to say what it is in English. :)

That spout is like BOOM. Pour time isn't going to be a problem.

Round kyuusu look awesome. I'll have to buy myself a nice one sometime.

Yup I suppose I employed mixed language with my Thread Title, for shame!

Really nice pieces Joel. VCan I ask how much the kyusu was. Last time there, I guess they had artisan pieces that were around 400 bucks. Very thin walled and super delicate feeling. Light as a feather.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

I'm jealous... Not only of your new pieces (my favorite shape of kyusu), but of the fact that you live in an area where you can by nice teaware in person.

I, too, think my next purchase will be a chawan...

NYC is great, but the best thing is being able to get in and get out. I would never have said that at 18 or 21, but by 24, I already cherish a warm appreciation for the suburbs! Cleaner, quieter, better for drinking tea :)

Incidentally, I applied to study in China this summer. It may be difficult, but I will try to bring back some Chinese Teaware from the source!

Nice. Some friends of mine are moving over there next month so maybe I'll have a hookup. I may be visiting them this summer (during the Olympics).

Awesome. If I am accepted, I will be at Fudan University, in or near Shanghai, with excursions to Beijing and other areas.

Perhaps a Teachat board meetup in Shanghai this summer...
