What are everyone's recomendations for getting started using it? Just rinse with hot water and start brewing? Is it like yixing - only brew 1 specific tea in it? Do you use it only for green tea in general? thanks in advance for your help.

Tokoname help question . . .
I just got my first ever teapot yesterday. Waiting for more tea - nearly out.

Thanks, sounds too easy!Fukamushi Dynasty wrote: Before drinking out of it, just thoroughly rinse it with hot/boiling water, then wipe dry with a towel.
ENJOY!!!!!!
Working on the picture -- don't get excited though. I am very low-class. I have a flute, piano and french horn to pay for plus their lessons so there isn't much $$ in the teapot fund!

This is the only tea left to my name right now.
I also have some pu ehr mini toucha in the background. However I am not in the mood for pu ehr lately. I found I had to split the samples as they were too large.

It was tough to pick - they were all reasonable. The dragonfly pot was too $$$. I like the glazed pots - in your opinion is there any difference between glazed and not?Fukamushi Dynasty wrote:It's an O-cha pot!!![]()
Looks awesome Augie, congratulations!
I need a pot in that shape, but before I do, I need one of those completely spherical ones.
I had to cut open a Mighty Leaf tea bag and try it - my tea stash is gone. The only problem I had was rinsing out the spent leaves. Round pot might be more difficult to clean out?
Overall, I am very satisfied. It's very easy and convenient. That crazy gaiwan in the background is awkward. I need to shop around for another one.
