So what do yall think of the instant messagey thingie they're testing? I think it's fun, though it does have the potential to be dangerously addictive

Very cool! It should definitely be expanded to an entire room, with an "occupants" list and all.

Is there a reason why the IM window goes away when one is writing a post on the forum (e.g., hits "post reply")?
I've missed a couple of people because I spent too much time writing something...

I have had the same problem, here is an easy solution. Use Firefox or Opera and write your replies in a new tab.

It also disappears if you click on view new posts and there aren't any. For some reason it is there if there are. (I have a bookmark to the new posts search).
