Testing the water re Proinsias et al.

by Salsero » Feb 16th, '08, 18:06

Is Proinsias ripe for the plucking? He has been a member since March of 2006, but was pretty inactive until recently. He seems to be very knowledgable about tea, and I think he has a long history in one of the other forums, Puerh LJ or RFDT maybe. I'm not nominating him at this point, just wondering if my enthusiasm is justified.

I'm also getting excited about our current crop of newbs. Those that come to mind immediately are
  • olivierco
    Selaphiel
    Taiping Hou Kui
    Victoria's Own
    Pentox
    Katmandu
None of them has been around long enough, but they do all exhibit the first signs of Obsessive Compulsive Tea Disorder better known as OCTD.

Yes...do a poll for Pro, sal!!!

The others...I have no objection to at all as long as the time requirements are met.

TPHK needs a little more time. Love his UN...a fav tea. Just a little more time for him..
Non US citizens...2 of those are Europeans right, just sayin' I think maybe a little more time for these two???
VO is definately gahgah for tea. Joined 1/8/08..but 150+ posts...

VO is gahgah for everything! She's a party girl. I think Pro is also European -- Scotland. Maybe it's just Scottish descent.

I don't think I've seen a single TeaChat post from Proinsias since I started this thread five days ago! He did, however, make his first post since November on his own blog which has links to all our regular ones. Apparently he is also quite serious about maritial arts.

BTW, is there an easy way to locate a member's profile so you can check all their posts or PM them? Scrolling through the Memberlist is a nightmare and often I just can't remember a single thread where a particular person posted.

I go to the Search function up by FAQ, then type in the author's name in the "Search for Author" field. That will bring up all threads that user has posted to, with the most recent being first.

If I want to immediately go to that user's profile, I just scan the "Last Post" column until I see that user's name. (That'll be the last post in that particular thread). Then I click on the name. That'll take me immediately to that user's profile.

If I want to see all their posts, I just click on the "Find all posts by X" link.

As far as PMing goes, it's even simpler. Just click on the "You have X new messages" link in the FAQ line. Then click on the "new post" button. Type the username of the person you want to send a message to in that first line, then compose your PM as usual.

I'm quite sure that button wasn't there before today. (Or maybe I never noticed it.)

I already knew about half the other stuff you so thoroughly outlined, but the BUTTON was the most helpful. I will have your entire post tatooed onto some easily accessible part of my body for future reference.

Thanks.

Worried to come across such a long thread bearing my name in the private members forum....
Glad to find that I've not been horribly offensive or had my suit hacked, even more chuffed to find it complementary.

Apologies for missing the thread. I do tend to check Teachat at least daily but since the arrival of the new forums things have gotten so busy I've not been able keep up with all the chat. - my blog reading habit might suffer.

I'm always reading and go through sporadic bouts of posting.

I'm typing out of Glasgow, Scotland and if my tea habit has suffered over the past few months of chaos my martial art habit has suffered worse.

//I would be honored to be part of the elite who can talk about other people in secrecy and perhaps prod them with injokes//

Oh and, thanks for the recommendation Salsero!

Well, I am relieved to see that the word chuffed means pleased in UK English.

We have another, still more secretive, forum for the insults!

Landmark after landmark here.
  • 1) Me nominating for membership a (somewhat dormant) Charter Member of this august assemblage.
    2) Proinsias hitting his 100th post in a thread devoted to his memory.

That line alone would justify officially nominating you, an action from which I am doubtless officially barred now by your condition of Member for Scotland.
