Greetings.
As I measured out my Oolong tea leaves this afternoon, it struck me that I don't think I've ever been unable to decide what tea I want to drink in a given moment.
I rarely have fewer than half a dozen teas at hand (white, green, oolong, black, pu-erh), and usually over a dozen. Yet I typically zero in on my choice within a few seconds.
Anyone else experience this?

Heh, I am very indecisive about these things-- it usually takes me a few minutes of staring at my tea drawer to pick something out.

I get conflicted over which tea to drink all the time. I have lost count of how many times I will stare at my tea drawer, take out all the tins one by one to figure out what I have and if I have forgotten about any of them and then end up picking something only to put that tea away and pick something else. Other times it is easier since my tea choices are limited by time of day and how much time I have to prepare the tea. In general, it takes me a bit to figure out which tea to drink next.
I usually like having the same teas at some point during the day, but I do find myself conflicted when it comes to choosing what to drink. Especially if I get something new, or I have a blend to try, sometimes I just want to fall back on my tasty favorites, and not waste any time in preparing something that I might not like too much. And then I also go through phases in which I just want to have the same oolong over and over and over again (aka all of last week).

It can go both ways for me.
In the morning I must have something Assam based, so that's easy. I often begin to think what tea I will drink in the morning the night before, as I going to bed
.
But it gets difficult with the second and subsequent teas of the day. I have samples to try (which almost feels like a responsibility) and I have teas I have not touched in a while (so I feel guilty), but I want my Sencha! I am on a Japanese tea kick...
So, yes, it can get very conflicting...

Anyone who doesn't have to spend more time than it takes to brew tea to decide what tea to have...has serious issues.

I operate similar to Hop. My Assam's and Assam bleads are a must in the morning. I can do a Yunnan occasionally or a Golden Monkey.hop_goblin wrote:I generally have a set list of what I will drink and when. Japanese Green for the afternoon, although I can have a Darjeeling or desert tea like Kusmi's too.
It's the evening that is a problem. If I continue to drink my afternoon teas into the evening I have a problem falling asleep at night. I must stop caffeine no later then 7pm. Which sucks, because I want a cup of tea in the evening. I experiment with Rooibos and herbals but cannot bring myself to like them all that much. So, I am wondering about Houjicha, I understand it has the lowest level of caffeine among Japanese teas. Anyone has tried it?
