I was just wondering if anyone has tried the all gold buds yunnan black tea from yunnan sourcing. I just ordered some and want to know what others think.
Also does anybody have a yixing dedicated just to black tea or yunnan golds in general?

I have a large yixing that I dedicated to Assams, since the yixing pots seem to reduce that Assam bite. I don't use it for China Blacks they are usually not very astringent. I know there are people out there, however, who use yixing pots for China Blacks.
Last time I looked at YSLLC for blacks I had to throw up my hands in desperation. It was just too much choice and I didn't want to deal with it. They used to have only two: Gold and all tips. That I could understand.

I just ordered some of the small bud gold tips. I'll let you know how it is.
Previous to that, I had ordered a large amount of the black gold and was very, very happy with it.

Yeh, I love those baggies full of tea that he sends! I personally have preferred the black gold to the buds, but I know some people (including, I think, Mary R) adore the gold buds.
Look forward to hearing your opinion when it arrives on the slow boat from China.

I use a small yixing for qimen/keemun. I recall reading a post on ChaDao a while back on the favoured tea of yixing makers being something rather similar to qimen. Something about qimen begs to be put in a yixing, I don't get this feeling from fluffy gold tea.
I suspect I've linked to this before but anyway:

I have the buds and they are quite good. Two ounces is A LOT of buds. They arrived in under two weeks. Honestly, Adagio Yunnan Gold is just as good if not better.

I've only ever tried Adagio's. It's good (I'm not as much a black tea fan as I am a fan of oolongs, whites, and greens). But I mostly just ice it and take it to work. It is, however, one of the teas I like to make a large pot of, and ignore everythign but a steaming cup of goodness and a novel.

I have 100 grams of YS's "Pure Small Bud Black Tea Gold Tips." While it is not the **absolute** best Yunnan Gold I have come across, it is quite good.
I have tried Yunnan Gold from at least 5 different vendors, and I have found only one YG that I would rate higher (I admit, I have not tried adagio's, but I plan to do so).
This is
Ito En's Yunnan Gold from 07, which was my favorite:
And Yunnan Sourcing's Yunnan Gold (slightly different lighting conditions):

Nope, that is 40 or 50 grams. Yunnan Gold is a lot of tips, so it is fluffy/ low density...

The few times I've tried Yunnan Gold, I've been disappointed. There's a licorish (however you spell it) taste that I don't like. Maybe it hasn't been good quality. Maybe it's just not my cup of tea. Am I missing something? I'd rather have a pu'er or liubao.

Well, I'd say you're in a minority there, but I'll join you in the puer or liu bao any time!
