Growing Tea

Can you tell me if it is possible to grow tea in the desert southwest? Can one purchase a tea plant? If so where?

Darned apartment living though keeps me out of the market.

I purchased tea plants from www.uniqueplants.com
I have not attempted to actually grow them for harvest since I am sure they would not produce a quality tea (especially in the desert!) but they are neat to look at!
